SEO or PPC – by Marketing Dan

SEO or PPC

So what is it best to spend my money on – Search Engine Optimisation or Pay per Click Campaigns.

A quick Google search will show that there are many marketing companies telling you that you must spend your budget on SEO.

Equally there are many promoting the use of PPC.

If you want results from your web site then I would suggest that you consider both SEO and PPC.

Even the best SEO campaign will not show great results for at least 3 months (often it takes even longer than this).

If you need more instant results – which is why you have a web site after all, then it is best to start with a PPC campaign.  Google Adwords is the place to start.

Get your keywords sorted and then as your campaign progresses use the Google analytics tool to work out which words are working best for you and how visitors to your site are interacting with your site.

Once you have this information you should analyse it and use it to formulate your plan for your campaign.

You should find that the SEO based on the PPC information will produce better results for your SEO campaign.

Once your SEO campaign is running successfully, you should consider continuing with your PPC campaign. This is due to research showing that an avarage click through rate for PPC is around 5% and for SEO around 6%. However when a combination of SEO and PPC is shown in the search engine results, the click through rate goes up to around the 17% mark.

Obviously this all takes time and effort, the most cost effective way to get results through SEO and PPC is often to get a marketing company to do the work for you.

At Assist Marketing we have people who are experts in both SEO and PPC, we will work out a campaign for you and fit it in to your Marketing budget. Give us a call 0508 20 10 20 or send us an e-mail for more information.
