Marketing Basics There are 3 Marketing Basics that for some reason often get used when setting up a business but then get ignored when the business starts growing. Know your customers Marketing Basics 1Getting to know your customers -is not something you do just the once, it is arguably the most important stage of marketing process. The more accurate your information and knowledge, the more effective and profitable you can be. Use as many ways as you can to understand your customer’s behavior, demographics, and requirements then work out a way of satisfying these. Keep an eye on the Marketing Environment Marketing Basics 2 there are many business opportunities which may emerge as a result of changing market circumstances. For example customers spending habits change during a recession, in the last recession many restaurants suffered a downturn in business however fast food restaurants saw an increase in sales due to customers turning to them instead of dining out. Make sure you regularly check out you market environment for opportunities, and don’t forget to chack for threats as well!! 3. Make sure your Offering is what your clients want Marketing Basic 3. You need to make sure your product or service is actually what your customers want – from the packaging to the way it is promoted. It is important that you dont make the mistake of making your product or service the thing you want to sell, rather than designing and presenting things in the way the customer wants If you are not sure what your customers want then ask them, better still get someone else to ask them,...

Content Marketing

What is Content Marketing? The idea of content marketing is to attract and retain clients by creating and delivering relevant and valuable information to your clients with the idea of changing or reinforcing the client behaviour. It is an ongoing process that is ideal to put into  into your overall marketing plan, you will communicate with your clients (and prospective clients) without actually trying to sell them something (well not directly anyway). Instead of offering your product or service, you will deliver information that gives your clients information and helps them. The idea of content marketing is that if you, as a business, deliver ongoing valuable information to clients, they will in the end reward you with their business and loyalty. Content marketing is an ideal way to complement your other forms of marketing, latest research shows that consumers are becoming quite adept at ignoring traditional advertising methods, they own TV’s that allows them to skip ads, they do not buy magazines like they used to and it can be shown that the latest generation who have grown up with Facebook can process information without looking at the banners that surround the item holding their interest. So do not forget to include some content marketing in your marketing plan Please follow and like...

SEO or PPC – by Marketing Dan

SEO or PPC So what is it best to spend my money on – Search Engine Optimisation or Pay per Click Campaigns. A quick Google search will show that there are many marketing companies telling you that you must spend your budget on SEO. Equally there are many promoting the use of PPC. If you want results from your web site then I would suggest that you consider both SEO and PPC. Even the best SEO campaign will not show great results for at least 3 months (often it takes even longer than this). If you need more instant results – which is why you have a web site after all, then it is best to start with a PPC campaign.  Google Adwords is the place to start. Get your keywords sorted and then as your campaign progresses use the Google analytics tool to work out which words are working best for you and how visitors to your site are interacting with your site. Once you have this information you should analyse it and use it to formulate your plan for your campaign. You should find that the SEO based on the PPC information will produce better results for your SEO campaign. Once your SEO campaign is running successfully, you should consider continuing with your PPC campaign. This is due to research showing that an avarage click through rate for PPC is around 5% and for SEO around 6%. However when a combination of SEO and PPC is shown in the search engine results, the click through rate goes up to around the 17% mark. Obviously this all takes...

Pricing – A Marketing Tip from Marketing Dan

Pricing You should always consider pricing when you are working on your marketing. You should not promise the market a high quality service and then charge a bargain-basement fee. When you do this, you send potential clients a mixed message and this can lose you business. If you are offering a bargain basement service and then charge a high fee most people will only buy from you once. Look at it like this – you were thinking of hiring me as a marketing manager. I tell you my fee is $20 per hour. You have got quotes from other marketing consultants for $150 to $250 an hour for the same service. Would that make you more likely or less likely to hire me?? Another problem with low pricing is that your clients become accustomed to paying your low price. When you want to raise it to match the pricing in the market your clients will perceive they are getting a huge pricing increase, regardless of the fact they have been paying so little. It is most often best to sell your service on a “best service” basis rather than a “lowest pricing” basis.   Please follow and like...
